Story

We opened in 2001, as a brick-and-mortar dance studio, 250+ students, in an area of Charlotte now called Freemore West. For 4 years, a conventional syllabus for kids & adults dance education was followed, including the addition of Charlotte Dance Company (2003) and Bada Boom (2005). in 2005, we transitioned to an adult-only studio which led to the formation of the Performance Troupe (2007). Fast forward seventeen years and we’ve developed a business model that (1) doesn't limit us to stay within the walls of a traditional studio, (2) allows us to brand ourselves in various areas such as film, tv, video, digital and print media, and most importantly (3) be inimitable.

Our commitment to you, is to offer and deliver what we promise; and to have integrity as we work alongside and employ those who share, display, and uphold those values.

Five Questions

1. Who Am I?
I’m a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and magnet. Rare Charlotte native, who started dancing at the age of four, playing the drums at age eight, and became an award-winning stage actor at fourteen. After high school I went to college on a path to become an ER physician by taking every dance course available. Medicine was and wasn’t “me” at the same time. The fallback option was business and after a few hops around the corporate arena, I knew it was time to close that chapter as well.

2. Who Am I Creatively?
I am a Jill of all trades; I’ve done quite a bit in my young life. I love ANYTHING that requires me to think and be hands on.

3. What dance entities do you own?
Millennium Dance Studio hatched in 2001, followed by Charlotte Dance Company (2003), Bada Boom Burlesque (2005); and the Performance Troupe (2007) but it’ll take a permanent nap Feb 2025. I also partner with several other companies and organizations.

4. Have I done anything outside of dance?
I always jokingly tell people that “I’m in production”, which is true in a freelance kind of way. In 2007, a phone call introduced me to the television world and the calls haven’t stopped. I’ve had contracts with MTV(Viacom), FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” & “American Idol”, NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”, and several other projects on different networks. Film and digital media came by way of Universal Pictures & Allied Advertising (premieres | contests | activations), along with casting & producing “How To” videos for eHow.com.

5. Where do I see myself in five years?
It’s been one hell of a life so far and I don’t take any of it lightly. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing and doing some amazing things, working alongside incredible people; the opportunities have been endless. Currently, I am 100% MILLENNIUM and it’s changed quite a bit. It’s become a world of it’s on; has a life and a story to tell…many stories to tell and I am beyond blessed to be the one telling them.
